Fabulous Friday Technology Tip-Volume 4:4th edition

Greetings!! This is the “4th edition" of the Fabulous Friday Technology Tip (F2 T2) for this schoolyear that shares technology tools and resources that can be integrated into your daily lessons, unit plans and classroom centers. These online resources can be used before, during, and after a daily lesson or semester-long unit. 

Ø Today's first tip is the resource Rewordify. http://rewordify.com/ Rewordify.com simplifies difficult English. Enter hard sentences (or whole chapters) into the yellow box at the top of the page. (You can also enter a web site URL.) Click Rewordify text and you'll instantly see an easier version, for fast understanding.

Ø  Today's second tip is a resource from Knight Lab at Northwestern University (https://knightlab.northwestern.edu/)  Northwestern University Knight Lab is a community of designers, developers, students, and educators working on experiments designed to push journalism into new spaces. They develop free online prototypes of tools for reporting, data management, research, and storytelling. Some of the tools include timelines, story maps and much, much more.

Fabulous Friday Technology Tip(F2T2)-Volume 4:1st edition

Congratulations!! Election Season is Over!!!The Second Friday of November 2016 is here!
Greetings!! This is the “1st edition" of the Fabulous Friday Technology Tip (F2 T2) for this schoolyear that shares technology tools and resources that can be integrated into your daily lessons, unit plans and classroom centers. These online resources can be used before, during, and after a daily lesson or semester-long unit. 

Ø  Today's first tip is a resource from Flippity(http://flippity.net/)! Flippity is a Google resource that easily turns a google spreadsheet into a set of online flashcards, quiz show and much, much more!!

Ø  Today's second tip is a resource from For All Rubrics (https://www.forallrubrics.com/) ForAllRubrics lets you create rubrics aligned with Common Core standards. Use this tool to save and easily call up student assessments and view the entire class in real time. Its colorful interface makes it easy to visually locate the information you need quickly.

Fabulous Friday Technology Tip(F2T2)- Volume 3- 26th edition

  • The first tip is a resource for Mystery Science! Mystery Science(https://mysteryscience.com ) is developing a complete K-5 science curriculum. The past two years, they've been piloting Mystery Science lessons for 2nd-5th grade (ages 6-11). For the upcoming school year (2016-2017), they’ll be releasing version 1 of our 2nd-5th grade curriculum. In addition, they'll begin piloting lessons for kindergarten and 1st grade.This site is loaded with science activities for grades 2-5.  At Mystery Science, their mission is to help children stay curious.
  • The second tip is 50 fantastic resources for teachers!(http://www.studentguide.org/50-fantastic-resources-for-new-teachers/ ) The Student Guide website StudentGuide.org is a collection of useful resources for students to assist their scholastic goals. The website provide articles on hundreds of student related topics to help them improve their study habits, writing skills, organizational skills, and analytical skills.

Fabulous Friday Technology Tip(F2T2)- Volume 3- 25th edition


Congratulations!! Happy Friday Eve off WinterBreak 2016!!!! 

Greetings!! This is the “25th  edition" of the Fabulous Friday Technology Tip (F2 T2) that shares technology tools and resources that can be integrated into your daily lessons, unit plans and classroom centers. These online resources can be used before, during, and after a daily lesson or semester-long unit. 
  • The first tip is a resource for Common Core Math! Math4ChildrenPlus(http://www.math4childrenplus.com/ ) is a 100 % free education site featuring over 2,000 activities with about 50,000 skills for children. This site is loaded with math activities for children from Pre- K up to 7th grade aligned to Common Core State Standards.Math4children+ also means there is more on the site besides math.
  • The second tip is a Computer Lab resource!(http://oakdome.com/k5/) Even though the title of the website says computer lab resource, the tools and resources are phenomenal for effective integration into daily lessons! There’s also a poem generator section that allows students to create their own poetry using templates such as “I have a Dream” and  Short Biography Generator. There are activities for word processing, spreadsheets and graphing, powerpoint presentations, graphic arts, multimedia, internet research, and more.

As we prepare for the upcoming GA Milestones Assessment, we have identified some skills which our students will need to be successful. While this skill-set is tentative and is just a beginning, let’s work to incorporate them into our weekly technology lessons in the schools.

Our students will need to
·         read passages onscreen
·         Type words, sentences and long narratives.
·         Annotate passages onscreen
·         Use handheld calculators
·         Manipulate onscreen calculators
·         Type numbers, expressions, and equations
·         Construct equations, fractions, and decimals

Please encourage students to practice using the following tools:
·        On screen Highlighter
·        On screen Eraser
·        On screen Magnifying Glass
·        On screen  Mark for Review
·         Online Calculator-in sections where this is allowed
·         Option Eliminator
·         Scratch Pad
·         Blocking Tool

  • The first tip is a new tool of assessing students! Quizalize(https://www.quizalize.com/ ) is a new diagnostic assessment website by Zzish that provides children with a fun and engaging way to learn. Quizalize goes one-step further than just being your average quiz website, it provides teachers with in-depth data to analyze their children’s strengths, weaknesses and learning gaps instantly.
  • The second tip is an review tool of assessing students!! Looking for another fun way to assess students? Try Quizizz (http://quizizz.com/admin) ! Quizizz allows multiplayer gaming and is compatiable with tablets, chromebooks, and mobile devices. No projector needed! It is student-paced and allows for realtime feedback. You can choose from a question library or create your own quiz. A detailed report is available at the end of quiz. The best part...IT'S FREE!! 
  • The third tip is another refresher tool Kahoot https://getkahoot.com/  Kahoot! is a FREE classroom response system which creates an engaging learning space, through a game-based digital pedagogy. Great Learning Starts By Asking Great Questions. This educational platform brings engagement & joy to teaching & learning in any subject!!

Congratulations!! Week 1 of the 2016 2nd Semester is complete!!!! 
Greetings!! This is the “20th  edition" of the Fabulous Friday Technology Tip (F2 T2) that shares technology tools and resources that can be integrated into your daily lessons, unit plans and classroom centers. These online resources can be used before, during, and after a daily lesson or semester-long unit. Check out this week’s tip!!!

The 21st Century Classroom Transformation Project is designed to fully leverage technologies that enable teachers to create an engaging and empowering learning experience for all students, embedding standards-based teaching practices. 

In order to facilitate the transformation, APS classrooms and media centers will receive interactive LED display panels, multimedia document cameras, and collaborative teaching software. 

To maximize the impact of these 21st Century Classroom tools, the Department of Instructional Technology will facilitate job-embedded professional learning on the new tools and resources.  We will target not only utilization, but how to ensure the tools and resources lend themselves to increased critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration (4 C’s).
