Summer Opportunities for Students

Happy Friday!!! Tuesday starts a Summer Break for many students. Listed below are a few community based resources available to keep students positively and productively engaged.

Check them out!!
  • Georgia's Summer Food Access Initiative, at the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, will provide healthy meals at libraries in 20 Georgia counties this summer using federal USDA funding in conjunction with language and literacy programming and health services to ensure that children have the vaccinations they need to begin school in August. To learn more about how your county can take part, contact Falita Flowers (falita.flowers@decal.ga.gov).
  • The Mayor's Summer Reading Club, organized by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, engages public and private partners to distribute free age-appropriate books to children, ages birth to 8, at family-friendly events held across the city over the summer months. http://www.mayorsreadingclub.org/

Fabulous Friday Technology Tip(F2T2)- School's Out!!!

The Fabulous Friday Technology Tip (F2T2) will be posting a few Summer Editions during the months of June and July to share tips and resources.  Please continue to check out the blog (http://apsf2t2.blogspot.com/)  to access (F2T2)  during the summer.

I look forward to next year as we extend learning opportunities beyond the four walls of the classroom and focus on digital citizenship for each and every student as they demonstrate mastery of the common core standards.

I wish each of you a restful and joyous summer break. Take time to REST and come back refreshed as we continue to prepare our students for success in life, service, and leadership.

Have a positive and productive Friday!

Free Stopwatch & Countdown Timer at http://www.xnotestopwatch.com/

"Teachit" Timer, a free downloadable classroom timer can be used on screen or projected, and it has been especially created to manage timed activities during a lesson. You can say to your class: "I am giving you seven minutes for this activity!" The clock and timer display will show how much time has been used, how much time is left, and, if you want it to, even sound a warning when there are only several seconds remaining. You can even choose your final alert sound - a whistle, gong, dog barking ... and more ... To download one for yourself, please click here:
