Fabulous Friday Technology Tip(F2T2)- Volume 6-16th edition




Congratulations!! The final Friday in November has arrived!!!!

Good morning!  
This is the 16th  edition" of the Fabulous Friday Technology Tip (F2 T2) that shares technology tools and resources that can be integrated into your daily lessons, unit plans and classroom centers. 
As an Educational Technology Specialist, I can support you with:

  • The Atlanta Public Schools Technology & Innovation Competition is coming! The APSTIC https://apstic.weebly.com/  is an annual student competition that gives students the opportunity to showcase their innovative use of technology in daily learning. The #APSTIC is a technology competition for 3rd - 12th grade students in the Atlanta Public Schools District, including all charter, private, and home schools. Please check out the APSTIC website to find pertinent information about the tech competition including category descriptions (which mirror the State's categories), rubrics, and volunteer and judge information.  Additionally, you will find some useful tips to help your students create winning projects!   To register your students, or additional questions, email me for more information!

  •  The 2018 Hour of Code-(https://hourofcode.com/) is quickly approaching! This year’s featured activity for Hour of Code is Dance Party, a tutorial for students to code, get creative, and even dance! Join the movement and introduce a group of students to their first hour of computer science with these steps. The Hour of Code is easy to run - even for beginners! Email me ASAP for more information and lesson integration ideas!

  • Don’t forget about APS Race2Read: The 2 Million Minutes Challenge!! Join Atlanta Public Schools as we Race2Read 2 million minutes! This is an opportunity to create reading enthusiasm in our learning communities by getting students, staff, families and community members excited about free choice reading. Reading minutes will be logged using the Beanstack website. Students and school communities have opportunities to earn badges, special prizes and help APS achieve our goal of 2 million minutes! We’re off to a running start! Ready, set, Race2Read! Don’t forget to log your minutes next week!

  • Super Bowl Champion Malcolm Mitchell is launching READBowl, a national reading competition, through his Read with Malcolm literacy initiative and Share the Magic Foundation. READBowl provides teachers with tools to inspire and motivate students to increase the number of minutes they read during the school day.
  • READBowl runs January 7- February 3, 2019. Weekly prizes and grand prizes are sponsored by First Book and Share the Magic Foundation.
